Convert Westpac bank statements to Excel or CSV
Westpac Choice eStatements are the digital original of the paper statement: account details first, then dated transactions with debit, credit and balance figures. Download the PDF statement, upload it here, and get every transaction as a spreadsheet that is checked against the statement's own opening and closing balances before you download it.
The Westpac statement layout
These notes come from real Westpac statements our reader has been tested against, not from a template guess:
- The eStatement follows the standard Australian layout: dated transactions with Debit, Credit and Balance figures.
- Because the eStatement is the bank's own digital file, it carries a full text layer — unlike a scan of the paper version.
How to download a PDF statement from Westpac
- Sign in to Westpac Online Banking at westpac.com.au and go to Overview, then Statements (up to 7 years of statements are available).
- Select the account under Active accounts, enter a date range or pick a preset range, and select Search.
- Select Download PDF to save the statement. In the Westpac app, search Statements in Smart Search, tap the period, and use the share icon to download it.
Once you have the PDF, drop it into the converter — you can check the result before you pay for anything, and the first 10 pages each month are free.
What to check after converting
- The result is marked Reconciled — the rows reproduce the closing balance exactly. If a difference is shown instead, our guide to why a statement does not balance walks through the usual causes.
- If the account was still on paper statements, switch to eStatements first: the PDF is then Westpac's digital original, not a scan.
- Check the closing balance against the balance figure on the last transaction row before importing the file anywhere.
- Spot-check two or three rows against the PDF, especially around page breaks. Our guide on how to check a conversion shows a two-minute routine.
